Mt Cook sunset, Mt Cook, South Island, New Zealand, March 2005. My wife and I spent the day climbing some of the trails on the surrounding hills and a boat tour on the glacier lake. A few days before one of the boats was almost crushed by a huge chunk of ice that fell from the one of the glacial icebergs. The tour operators had to change their operation and weren't allowed within 10 metres of an iceberg, which was fine with me. This beautiful sunset scene topped off a fantastic day. Mt Cook is a beautiful, quiet, and slightly eerie place, well worth a visit. The light in NZ is lovely and soft, it is hard to take a bad photo there. by mickmckean Landscapes via 500px http://ift.tt/1nkfSMD
